UNBREAKABLE

DIRECTOR:M.Night Shyamalan
CAST:Bruce Willis,Samuel L.Jackson,Robin Wright Penn

An ordinary security guard is travelling back home to philadelphia from a job interview in New York.He flirts with an attractive young but, unfortunately for him,a married woman in the train. He makes funny faces at the cute kid sitting in front of him in the compartment. Then, all of a sudden, something happens. The train begins to vibrate vigorously.Next thing he knows,he is in a hospital bed. When he comes to consciousness, nothing prepares him for the news he is about to receive.

He is the only survivor of a devastating train crash.More than 200 other people have died. And to top it all,he has no injury, not even a single scratch on his body.

Thus, starts 'Unbreakable',the story of David Dunn (Willis),a security guard at the Philadelphia American Football Stadium .He used to be the greatest rookie player in his university days.He has a wife (RWP),who is his childhood sweetheart and with whom he has a problem communicating with on a heart-to-heart level. And there is a son who thinks his father is god.Nothing much changes after this accident initially until he receives a note from Elijah(SLJ) which asks him as to how many times in his life has he been sick.He thinks about it and asks his boss and his wife. They in all the time that they have known him have never seen him sick.He has never in his life ever had a cough, fever or even a slight cold!

The reason Elijah is so interested in Dunn is that Elijah is the exact physical antithesis of Dunn.He was born with broken arms and legs.He suffers from a bone disease which makes his bones very brittle. In fact he needs the help of a walking stick to walk and in school the kids used to call him 'Mr.Glass'.As a young child his mother had instilled in him the love of comic books. As a result now he is as genuinely fond of books as Harsha Bhogle is of cricket and has become a collector and a supreme authority on comics.

When Dunn meets Elijah,Elijah puts forward his theory as to why they both are the way they are.How Dunn reacts to this and what happens to his character later forms the eerie and thrilling part of the remainder of the film.

M.Night Shyamalan is back after the ninth biggest hit of all time 'The Sixth Sense'.Here the story is on a grander scale and on a larger canvas. The characters are a little more larger than life and the story a bit more introspective.

Here are two of the most well etched characters in recent times Bruce Willis and Samuel.L Jackson. They are performed by 2 actors with amazing screen presence and rise above the beautifully written script.

What I have told you is just 1/3rd of the movie.Any more and it would be criminal injustice. The movie has to be seen to be enjoyed and the effect is much more on the big screen. The twists and turns have the viewer enthralled and stuck to his seat and show the genius of the script writer.

The ending however is not as good as the Sixth Sense.Where your whole perspective of the movie changed in the last half-minute.There is a beautiful twist in the end but still makes you go "coool" and nothing else. All in all a great date movie.Pure popcorn entertainment.
